6 advices to go green

For some time now, I've been trying to change my habits to adopt others that are greener, more beneficial for the planet and our way of life. And I thought it would be interesting to share some of my methods for those who are interested in being more "green".

So here are 6 little tips to be more zero waste. And some of them are very simple to apply.

Tip #1: Use a reusable cup/water bottle (glass that can be easily washed)

Tip #2: Use a tote bag for all kinds of things

Tip #3: Adopt reusable lunch boxes (for take-out to work or class)

Tip #4: Use a bamboo toothbrush instead of a plastic one

Tip #5: Use wooden cutlery (especially to go with lunch boxes)

Tip #6: Use washable cotton pads instead of cotton ones

For the moment, I use mostly 3 of the 6 tips, because for some of them, I don't need them and I use substitutes that suit me very well. For example, I eat almost every day at home, so I don't need cutlery or a lunch box. And, of course, I'm not an expert but this topic is very close to my heart and I wanted to share it with you.

Since recently, I switched to washable cotton and even if I had my reluctance at the beginning, I am not disappointed to have changed this habit today. I decided to switch because Yves Rocher was giving away a set of 4 washable cotton pads (for all purchases, of course), and since it was free, I didn't hesitate (there are no small savings, as Seb la frite says). And since then, I hardly use disposable cotton pads anymore. I wash them either in the machine (when I'm lazy) or by hand and frankly it's very fast. Then I reuse them. Plus, they have a stylish design and they're super soft, which is great for the skin.

I love tote bags. I use them for everything: classes, shopping, as a purse, ... in short as a bag for everything. The best way to be greener is to think about taking these bags with you when you go shopping instead of buying plastic ones on the spot. Of course, it happens to forget and take the plastic ones that supermarkets sell (it happens to everyone), but it's better to think about it and to have this gesture towards the planet. Personally, I really like the ones from Pull&Bear.

I have also made it a habit to put my water in a small portable bottle/water bottle rather than buying plastic ones. I'm buying less and less of them because I used to put water in my old bottles but it's better to choose a glass bottle than a plastic one, but be careful, glass breaks easily. Mine is from Stradivarius.
