The 72nd edition of the Cannes Film Festival started on Tuesday, May 14th. I had the chance to attend the opening ceremony, presented by Edouard Baer, who some people recognize as Otis in Asterix and Obelix: Mission Cleopatra, and then to the first film shown: The Dead Don't Die by Jim Jarmusch with Adam Driver and Selena Gomez.
The opening ceremony was filled with humor, but still introduced the jury (Elle Fanning, Maimouna N'Diaye, Kelly Reichardt, Alice Rohrwacher, Enki Bilal, Robin Campillo, Yorgos Lanthimos, Paweł Pawlikowsk) and the jury present (Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu). And the setting was sensational.
Then, the film began. The story takes place in Centerville, where the residents are suddenly attacked by zombies. Although it's about zombies, the film is rather mocked, and I think that's part of the charm of this film.
