A Week In Sicily

This summer, I had the great privilege of going to Sicily for a week with my family. And I loved it. We were able to visit a lot of things, be next to the beach, and see beautiful sunsets. Here is the last sunset I saw (before leaving, ahah) on the beach. It is breathtaking !

So, to explain a little bit what I visited, you have to know that I was on the western side of Sicily, and we landed in Palermo.

Place in Mazara del Vallo

First, we visited a nice little town called Mazara del Vallo. It's not too well known but very pretty, by the sea, with cathedrals and a very nice square (unfortunately I don't remember the name of the square, sorry).

Then we went to Agrigento, very famous for its valley of the temples, a must to do, and a pretty nice old town. We ate there for cheap and very good in a restaurant called Trattoria Concordia. And not far from the city, we went to the Scala dei Turchi, a very famous beach in Sicily for its beautiful landscape.

We also tested some hot water terms, a very nice place to relax, towards the town of Selinunte. As well as an excellent pizza restaurant called Ristorane Pizzeria Pierrot.

And for the last day of visit, we went in the morning to see the archaeological park of Selinunte that shows temples, an acropolis and an agora. Then we drove to Monreale to see its famous cathedral which is resplendent (compared to the city which is not very beautiful). In the afternoon, we went to see the city of Palermo, starting with the Norman Palace, the Palermo Cathedral, and ending with the Theatro Massimo which I find sublime. Everything is in the city center, not far from each other and they are splendid monuments, which I think are worth seeing.

But, be careful if you go to this side of Sicily, the Italians drive very, very badly, that is to say they don't respect almost any sign and also, unfortunately, on the side of the road, it's full of garbage waiting to be picked up. But apart from these small negative points, I am extremely happy of this trip with these beautiful landscapes and especially the sunsets. And of course, I would go back to do the eastern part of Sicily and visit Etna, Catania and Syracuse.

Here is a small video that recalls all the visits I could do with my family with the beautiful landscapes we could see:
