My life in a business school

Part 2: The first semester

As the end of the first semester and the first midterms approach, a lot has been happening at school.

The EM'Bassade, the school bar

Although we have few classes, about 25 hours per week, the school has set up different activities to avoid getting bored. First of all, there is the work after the classes, notably with the new module set up this year: a rather important case study to be done in group and with a video to be handed in for the end of the semester. Then, in addition to the courses, it is possible to join an association where you just have to pay a fee to join. And then, in addition, there are parties (afterwork a little every day and real parties every Wednesday) and personal activities such as sports (which you can do or not do at school with the BDS, sports office). Of course, it's up to you, but everything is possible.

And of course, there are the lists, some kind of campaigns that last a few weeks in order to elect the new BDE (student office)/BDS (sports office)/BDA (arts office).

All this allows the school to live and have fun outside of class and to meet people from your class (there are about 400 classes).

For the associations, I am part of the Fashion Week where I was taken on interview and which is very professionalizing; the Strassbuch, a city guide produced by the school, also professionalizing; and finally the Zeitung, the school newspaper to continue my passion of writing. And on the side, I do dance. All of this takes time, but it's doable and the people you work with are very understanding and do according to your class and personal schedule too.

As the end of semester 1 comes to a close, we now have to choose our 10 destination choices for our second year abroad, as well as track choices and an elective for semester 2 (choice between two tracks and one elective out of 18).
