First of all, you have to know that I didn't have a good experience during my two years in preparatory school. The first year I was discovering this world, so it was fine. But the second year, with the competition in sight, the teachers on my back, I couldn't take it anymore. Especially since I felt bad about myself, so that didn't help either.
But what you have to know is that in my prep school, I was constantly told that I had to aim for a good school. But in reality, what really counts is to feel good in this school, because you will stay there for three years. And that's why the orals are important. Anyway, I was able to choose my school because of that and I'm not disappointed with it. I had a great year. And even if it is 16th in the ranking of the Grandes Ecoles, a ranking that often varies because EM Strasbourg goes from 15th to 17th very regularly, which proves that the ranking of the schools is not really relevant, it is still my school, where I spent unforgettable and fantastic moments.
In preparatory school, you prepare for the competitive exams. So yes, the courses are oriented towards the competition, but what is the use afterwards? Well, there is none. Except maybe knowing how to organize our work, but I don't think that's the most important thing. Because when we get to school, everything we learned intensively in prep school won't be of any use to us anymore. Instead, we will study courses related to business such as finance, marketing, strategic analysis, law... And as a result, those who were in prep school are the most lost. Because the others who didn't go to the preparatory classes have already had a basic understanding of these courses and therefore have better grades. Especially those who have done GEA (Business and Administration Management). They already take the competitive exams and the orals before us and they have time to settle in and find an apartment before us. It's only with hindsight that I was able to realize all this.
So, yeah, I don't really have a good view of prep school. Maybe it's because of the prep school I went to, or the professors I had, or just my experience wasn't good, but I'd love to hear your opinion whether you went to prep school or not.
