Best reads from March

As usual, I would like to present to you my best readings for the month of March, hoping that my opinions can guide you and help you choose a reading for you or your loved ones.

A sign of affection - Morishita Shuu

Summary :

Yuki is a student who, like many others, builds her daily life around her friends, social networks and what she likes. But when one day, on the train, she meets a young man who is traveling around the world, her world will be turned upside down: the latter, although trilingual, does not know sign language. However, very quickly, he will show a very particular interest in her... How will she react to this enterprising and communicative university friend?

A sign of affection describes with modesty and simplicity the love story between a young deaf woman and a great traveler. without a doubt, the characters in this manga will not fail to move you!

Review:

The story is quite original, I really appreciated that it addresses the subject of deafness and seeing the daily lives of deaf people. It’s also very cute and seems like a gentle, calming read. It reads super quickly. I'm having a really good time reading this and I'm starting to really like the main characters. This manga has the same vibe as the At Your Side manga that I love. It’s very touching and moving. I recommend !

This manga sends very good messages by showing that communication and trust are the key points in a relationship.

On stage Volume 22 - Cuvie

Summary (spoiler alert):

During the highly anticipated Summer Performance which ends the school year, the Royal Ballet students must go on stage five times: for an Irish dance, then for an extract from Phaéton, the new creation by Abigail Nicols, followed by Encounter and a sequence from La Fille mal gardee, before ending with the parade. However, on the day of the premiere, torrential rain fell on London, jeopardizing the event. To top it all off, doubt sets in for Kanade regarding her interpretation of the goddess Ceres...

Review:

I still love this manga so much, especially because I became extremely attached to the character of Kanade. In this volume, I have the impression that Kanade faces a lot of pressure and as a result, it brought a sadder side to this story. The young girl touched me deeply in this part and I must say that the ending pushes me to want to continue, but I will have to be patient and wait for the release of the next volume.

A condition called love Volume 13 - Megumi Morino

Summary (spoiler alert):

Hotaru and Hananoi resolved their first big conflict, which helped strengthen their relationship. But, while they went out to celebrate New Year's Eve at the temple, Hotaru suddenly admits to Hananoi that she does not want to go home. During the discussion, he understands that his girlfriend had an argument with her big sister... The new year promises to be eventful!

Review:

This manga is pure perfection. The couple of Hananoi and Hotaru is full of green flags. They are so cute and sometimes so shy that it makes the story more touching. I really liked the relationship between Hotaru and her sister in this part and I hope that we will see more of the latter in the next volumes. On the other hand, the ending left me somewhat perplexed. To conclude, I would say that frankly, it is a reading that feels so good, that soothes. And it reads itself. I recommend 10,000%.

Harbinger Voume 3 - Grace and glory - Jennifer L. Armentrout

Summary (spoiler alert):

Trinity flushed out the Precursor, for better, but especially for worse. Now she must lead the battle against this enemy of incomparable power. Even the help of the Guardians and demons combined will not be enough to ensure victory. In a desperate situation... Trinity is ready to try anything, including bringing the first and most dangerous of the fallen angels back to Earth.

Review:

This was an incredible read. I really had a great time reading this latest volume. It’s actually my favorite from this saga.

I found that the characters had really matured. Trinity is more assertive in her words and actions, and therefore less annoying. As for Zayne, he has evolved a lot and has become a perfect guy. I really liked his character and he made me laugh a lot. And of course, I loved the passages with Roth and Layla.

So, frankly, it was a really well-crafted finale and I wasn't bored for a second. Everything was perfect except the ending, for my taste, which I found predictable and too fast.

Crescent City Volume 3 : House of flame and shadow - Sarah J. Maas

Summary (spoiler alert):

A world of darkness.

A fiery spark.

An explosion of stars.

Trapped in a world other than her own, Bryce has only one goal: return to Midgard and save those she loves. In this new fae kingdom, she will have to use all her intelligence to unravel the mysteries it contains and hope to return home. But who can she trust?

Hunt has had many dark moments in his life, but this may be the worst of all. Locked in the Asteri dungeons, he remembers the few months of happiness spent with his partner, without having the slightest idea of the fate that was reserved for him.

Bryce and Hunt are willing to risk everything to find a way to defeat the Asteri and free Midgard from their grip. But this fight for survival, freedom and love could cost them everything they have.

Review:

As usual with Sarah J. Maas, this reading was a pure marvel. It's both beautiful and devastating, especially the ending and even though the book is more than 900 pages long, you never get bored because there is so much action, incredible revelations that I didn't guess, fight scenes, and of course moments of friendship and love.

Regarding the characters, I love them all so much, especially Bryce, Hunt and Ruhn who are my favorites. But in this volume, I find that Tharion and Ithan particularly touched me.

The only negative point about this book (besides the length and weight of the book haha), was that I didn't really like the direction the story about Bryce took at the beginning. I was so expecting something amazing that I was a little disappointed because the author could have exploited this angle more.

And of course, the ending is epic. Plus, we have the right to a little news.

Percy Jackson, Volume 6 : The chalice of the gods - Rick Riordan

Summary :

GO TO COLLEGE WHEN YOU'RE THE SON OF POSEIDON? AN ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE MISSION.

Percy Jackson really thought he was done with the whims of the gods... until he discovered that, to be accepted into college, he must collect no fewer than three letters of divine recommendation in exchange for services rendered. And there are a lot of services to be provided to Olympus!

Luckily for Percy, Annabeth and Grover don't plan on leaving him alone. Their first mission? Find a mysterious chalice, supposed to make anyone who drinks from it immortal.

Review:

I loved rediscovering this world that I love so much and rediscovering the author's pen. It's light, super easy to read and full of sarcasm. All that I love ! And of course, the chapter titles are still hilarious too.

I really liked this volume, which is located just after the Heroes of Olympus. We find our trio on a quest to find a certain object, and I must say that the quest was quite fun.

Of course, I still love the characters just as much. And I can’t wait to follow their adventure in their next two quests.

PS: we understand the cover a lot better after reading the book (and it’s very funny).

The night the stars went out, Volume 3: These prayers I say in the dark (La nuit où les étoiles se sont éteintes, Tome 3 : Ces prières que je fais dans le noir) - Nine Gorman & Marie Alhinho

Summary :

WILL JAEGER FIND HIMSELF WORTHY OF BEING SAVED?

My sobs shake me so hard that I wonder if it's not my body's desperate attempt to restart my dying heart, and I tell myself that maybe that's why we cry so much. strong, sometimes: to prevent our heart from stopping once and for all.

For his friends, he is Jaeger, this boy with a strict and traditional upbringing, but whom the girls like to meet in secret for one night. For his family, he is Thomas, this son who never measures up no matter how hard he tries. And for June, Thomas Jaeger-Lynch Jr is the childhood best friend she lost.

After the event that cost them their friendship, Jaeger refuses to reconnect with June. But when she needs him, will he be able to put aside his resentment to help her? And when his own life is shattered, will he be able to do without this girl who has been the center of his universe for practically his entire existence?

Review:

Oh my god, I knew I was going to love this story before I even started it, but I didn't think Jaeger was going to touch me this much.

His story is so poignant and sometimes hard to read, but that's what makes the novel so charming, in my opinion. I discovered a fragile young man, a little lost, who sees his life turned upside down overnight and who fights against his fears every day. I found his journey and his path admirable, even if at certain times, I did not really agree with his actions.

I also loved June, her sensitivity, her presence. Besides, I would have loved to know more about her, what she feels, her story behind a certain event.

I also really enjoyed seeing the band again. Seeing them still so united.

What I remember in any case is that sometimes “you need to get lost in order to find your way back”.
