I started annotating my books

I started annotating my favorites, something I had wanted to do for a long time but I was too afraid of damaging my books. My very first annotated book is From Lukov with love by Mariana Zapata, a book that touched me enormously and which will remain in my heart for a long time because it is the very first book that I annotated.

On the other hand, you have to be careful when annotating because it can get ugly, especially when you highlight twice. It makes a big dark paste and it's really not pretty. You can also highlight poorly, especially when it makes waves. The best is to highlight with a ruler but it is a bit restrictive. Or, you have to apply yourself and take the time to do it well. Trust me, it works.

You also need to take good highlighters. Personally, I got mine on Amazon and they are great. I also bought others on Sostrene Grene. Then, just grab the colors you want and get started. The best is to choose the colors according to the cover of the book but hey, it's your book, so do as you feel.

What do I annotate?

This is just my method, it is of course necessary for you to find your own. I'm repeating myself but it's true, you annotate your book so do as you feel.

Personally, I like to have two or three highlighters of different colors but related to the cover of the book and I highlight with one color the sentences that really touched me, another the passages that make me laugh, and the third for romantic moments. These are really sentences, words or passages that resonate with me and that I want to remember each time I read.

Afterwards you also had the possibility of adding drawings, or other, let your creativity speak. And, you can annotate a book for yourself but also for a friend if that makes you happy. So I could understand him or her better by reading the book with its annotations (this could be a good idea for birthday gifts, Christmas or other events).
