Fiction - Just Let Things Happen

This is it! I'm finally ready for this trip I've been waiting for about two months. I am so excited that I can't sit still. I am waiting at the train station for my best friend to arrive and finally start this incredible adventure.

I see him arrive just two minutes after me, carrying a suitcase and a backpack.

"Hey!" he said as I hugged him. "Ready to go?"

"Ready to go!"

"Great, let's go!"

And I followed him towards the platform.

Once I arrived in Berlin, I couldn't help but be amazed by the city. Josh had been here once before, which was one of the reasons I wanted to go on this trip with him. The second was that he spoke much better German than I did, and English too, by the way.

He led me through a maze of streets and avenues, sometimes endless, until we arrived at the Airbnb apartment. I had left Josh to make the arrangements and I was blown away by what he had chosen. At the same time, he was always traveling with his family or friends, but still. The apartment was beautiful and modern, everything I liked. There were two bedrooms, a fairly spacious shared bathroom with separate shower and bathtub, a living room with a TV corner, and a super modern kitchen.

"I chose the back room," I heard him say as he rushed to put his stuff in there.

And indeed, he had chosen well because mine was a little too girly for him.

An hour later, he came to pick me up in my room while I was putting my things in the closets around.

"It's time to go eat," he said with a smile.

"It's about time, I'm starving!" I replied.

"You're always hungry," he said, laughing.

"Put your best dress on, I have a surprise for you tomorrow night," he suddenly told me during the meal.

I was eating a very good dish made of potatoes and cold cuts.

"What?" I said with my mouth full.

"I have a little surprise for you tomorrow, you'll see in time, and you won't know anything more."

"What? But why?" I retorted.

"I want to see how long you'll last like this," he admitted. "You're far too curious."

"You're not being fair to me!"

"Yes, I am. You say that when I'm offering you a great night out plus the restaurant."

"Grrrr, I hate it when you do that!"

"That's why I do it," he replied.

The next day, I chose a long black dress, light enough since the weather in Berlin allowed it, which I matched with black and gold heels. After getting ready, I heard a knock on the door.

"Come in!"

"Wow, Amber, you look amazing!"

"You say that like I've never been," I teased him.

"No... uh... that's not what I meant at all," he said, blushing. "You're always beautiful, but now you're glowing."

"Good catch," I congratulated him.

He took a step closer, sticking close to me and taking my breath away.

"I'm only telling the truth, Amber," he whispered in my ear, giving me the shivers.

"That was wonderful," I said gratefully, once we got back to the apartment.

"I knew you would like it. You love ballets and this one is your favorite, you must have said that at least a million times."

"That's true!"

"I'm glad you like it," he admitted, looking me straight in the eye.

"Thank you so much for the surprise, I don't know how to thank you. It was really great."

"You don't have to. Your smile is enough for me."

At that moment, I looked away and blushed. I could feel his eyes on me and I couldn't help but smile more.

"I can't believe you did and organized all this. It's just fantastic and I know that... "

I was cut off by her lips gently touching mine. They were warm and soft, and made me feel comfortable as it was my first kiss. I know it's a bit lame to have your first kiss at 18, but what can I say, my life is a bit dull. And here it was getting a little rough.

He deepened the kiss and I let myself be transported by it. The sensations it gave me were wonderful and I only wanted it to go on and on. But he put an end to it and put his forehead against mine.

"I know you wanted someone important to give you your first kiss, but Amber, I... I can't help it."

And he kissed me again. Again and again until sunrise, which we watched from his window, lying on the bed.

He stroked my back in an affectionate gesture while a goofy smile appeared on my lips. It was so good to feel close to someone like that.

And throughout our stay, we visited the city, filled with wonders, and discovered more and more about ourselves as we got closer every day, understanding that life is more beautiful with someone by your side.

END.
