Fiction - The Sad Reality

I woke up on the side of a dark and dull road. I couldn't feel the heat or the cold, as if my body couldn't feel anything. Inside me, it was the same thing. An immense emptiness seized my heart and confused my mind as I tried, in vain, to remember what had happened to me.

I stood up with difficulty in the darkness of the night while the moon shone brightly. I staggered along the asphalt road until a loud crash sounded in my sensitive ears. I stopped dead in my tracks and finally discovered the mystery of the noise. I had stepped on a mirror, shattering it into several pieces. I bent down to pick up a fragment and looked into it. I was surprised at what I saw. My face was sickly white, my eyes had become dull and lost their bluish glow, and my skin was unusually pale.

I slowly continued my walk after putting down the piece of glass and noticed one thing. Wherever I went, loneliness and darkness followed me. When I reached the first house in the neighborhood I was in, I was overcome with hope. I felt alive, but it only lasted a few seconds. Indeed, nobody was around so I didn't stop. I didn't know where I got the feeling that I absolutely had to meet a living being, but I was too tired to think about it for even a minute.

Music came to me and I recognized the sound of a party. My heart began to pound in my chest again as I felt the life around me. Impatient, I rushed, with incredible speed, towards the direction of the melody. I passed countless teenagers who were unaware of my presence among them. In a way, this was to my advantage. I lowered my head to the ground and found myself a quiet corner.

As I sat down on a tree trunk, someone approached me. It was a shy girl who probably didn't like the dancing crowd. I was then seized by a relentless hunger. My eyes went from the stranger's face to her beautiful neck, going back and forth, and I couldn't control myself.

"Is everything okay?" she asked.

I nodded my head in agreement and, unable to take it anymore, I threw myself on her neck. I put my lips on her delicious skin and enjoyed her warmth which invaded me in the depth of my being. Once satiated, I moved aside and I finally unmasked what happened to me. The beautiful teenager was lying on the ground and was struggling to breathe. I shuddered as the truth came to me and I ran away.

I had become a vampire. And I had just killed this poor innocent girl.

THE END.
