The Survival - Chapter 2

Chapter 2

A few minutes later

I struggled to escape from the clutches of my opponent. However, he held me with an iron grip. And it was impossible for me to escape from him.

"It is useless to fight," he said to me.

"No, I would fight to the death," I answered, thinking of my sister.

Suddenly he released his grip. I was surprised and turned around to see that the young man in front of me was not the soldier who had chased me. On the contrary, he was younger and probably my age, if not a little older. His blond hair framed his complexion and face perfectly. His jade green eyes were simply splendid and I lost myself in his gaze. However, he brought me back to reality.

"Who are you?" he asked me.

"I could ask you the same thing," I said.

"It's strange," he said. "Your eyes are golden, but you are not under the control of the government."

"His object didn't work on me," I explained.

"How is that possible?" he exclaimed, more to himself than to me.

"I don't know," I muttered.

A heavy silence settled between us, making me uncomfortable with this stranger who seemed to have answers to my questions.

"You are alone, aren't you?"

"Yes," I confessed with a lump in my throat.

"Well, then I'll take you with me," he said.

"What? I don't know you and I don't trust you. Why would I want to come with you?"

"Because if you want to survive, I can help you," the blond man explained.

"And what makes me think you will keep your word?"

"Nothing, but I'm telling you the truth. With other survivors, we are forming a resistance group. If you want, you can join us."

"So now you're giving me a choice?"

"It's up to you! After all, he had to take something that was dear to you, didn't he?"

"He?" I repeated.

"The government," he answered.

"It's true," I admitted after a while, realizing that I didn't have much choice. "I accept your proposal."

"Well, let's go!" he said, heading to the other side of the forest.

"Wait!" I cried, holding on to his muscular arm. "And the soldier?"

"What soldier?" he asked, suddenly on guard.

"The one who was chasing me!"

"Let's not delay!" he said in reply.

Suddenly he took my hand and led me through the trees. Walking briskly, we arrived at our destination fairly quickly and I saw that a car was patiently waiting for us. We climbed in and made ourselves as comfortable as possible. Then the young man started the engine and we sped off.
