The Survival - Prologue

I ran through the trees that lined the National, as fast as I could to escape my captors. I was running away, my heart beating wildly. My thoughts were racing through my head, mixing with my memories of the last few hours. How could my sister sacrifice herself for me? How could she abandon me so that I could live? My life was worthless, I had lost those I cared about, I had lost EVERYTHING.

Footsteps came closer and closer to my position as I accelerated to try to get ahead. However, because of the effort I was putting into the run, my legs began to buckle from the pain that was threatening me. As I continued on, straight ahead, I caught the root of a tree and fell to the ground. I got up immediately, pushed by a breathtaking adrenaline rush, and started again. However, someone slammed me down on the wet grass and held my legs with incredible force. I was overcome with a rush of sadness. I had not made it to the end. I had just been caught by my enemy...
