Home-made & easy recipes

Being a student, I know that we don't necessarily have time or the desire to make good dishes because generally, it takes a few minutes to cook (and to do the dishes). So, I propose you some simple and quick dishes to make.

Breast Salad:

Choose a salad you like and then place as many salad leaves as you like. Take some smoked duck breast, remove the fat and place it on the salad. Add a few cherry tomatoes, then a sauce (which you can make yourself) and voilà, you can serve and it only takes 5 minutes.

Tomato, mustard and thyme pie:

Take a puff pastry and roll it out on a special baking sheet. After cutting the tomatoes into strips, place them evenly on the pastry. Brush the mustard on the tomatoes and add some thyme. Bake at 200°C for about 10 minutes.

3 cheese pie:

You have to choose 3 cheeses that you like, personally I chose comté, mozzarella, and gorgonzola. Take a puff pastry and roll it out on a special baking sheet. Cut the cheeses into cubes or small pieces and place them on the puff pastry, add some semi-thick cream, and put the whole thing in the oven at 200°C for 10-15 minutes. In total, it will take you 20 minutes.

Shrimp with saffron and beans:

This is one of my favorite dishes.

Take shrimp that have already been peeled (this is a tip, because otherwise you have to peel them and that takes time). Put them in a frying pan to cook for 3 min on each side, then add some semi-thick cream and the saffron and let it cook for 5 min or so.

Simultaneously, put the green beans in a pan with water. Wait for the water to boil and allow 10-15 minutes for the beans to turn bright green. If they are a nice green color, it means they are cooked.

And there you go, you can serve it all!

Salmon Bagels:

Take your bread, cut it in half and toast it on a toaster (or pan). After letting them cool down a bit, spread the bread with butter. Cut a tomato into slices and add them evenly on both sides of the bread, add a slice of smoked salmon on one side, a few salad leaves on the other and close the bagel. And there you have it, quick and easy.

Homemade burger:

Take a ground steak and cook it for 3 minutes on each side in a frying pan. While the steak is cooking, take your bread, cut it in half and brush both sides with mustard. Add some thyme on top. Then take a cheese that you like and that melts in the oven (preferably because it tastes better), cut it into slices if possible and put them on both sides of the bread. For those who want to add lettuce or tomato, just slice the tomatoes and add either the slices or the lettuce leaves on one side of the bread. Then, just add the cooked steak, and put it in the oven for 5-10 min, until the cheese melts, and there you go, enjoy.

Mussels with saffron + Rice with saffron:

Take a pot and put a lot of water in it. Once the water is boiling, pour the rice in and let it cook for the time indicated on the packet (personally, it was 10 min). Then, remove the water at the end, add some semi-thick cream and the small sachet of saffron (since it's sold in tiny boxes). Toss and serve!

In the meantime, prepare a frying pan where you put your shelled mussels. Let them cook for 5 minutes, stirring regularly. Then, add some semi-thick cream (the whole 50 cl jar) and the small box of saffron. Stir for a minute and you can enjoy!
