Summer has arrived earlier than expected and as a result, our culinary habits are changing. We are eating lighter, with rather cold and fresh meals, so here is what I suggest.
My favorite thing to do in the summer is to drink either milkshakes or smoothies. It's refreshing as well as super easy and quick to make. Here are the recipes:
Milkshake:
Take 5 spoonfuls of an ice cream (any one, personally I like to do with vanilla)
Use 1/4 liter of milk
Pour everything in the blender
Blend it all together
Put everything in a glass
And there you go, you have your milkshake
Smoothie:
Take some fruit (you can choose any kind, frozen or fresh)
Add a little milk and/or water
Put everything in the blender
Blend
Serve in a glass
And there you go
For me, summer means the return of the Tomato/Mozzarella/Basilica appetizer. It's an easy dish to make and delicious.
Tomato/Mozza:
Cut tomatoes into thin slices
Do the same with the mozzarella (preferably bufala)
Put everything on a plate
Drizzle with oil
Season with pepper and salt
And for the final touch, add some fresh basil
I also like to make salads because they are fresh, not too big and quick to prepare.
Salmon Salad:
Take some salad
Trim the leaves if they are too big
Cut your salmon into small squares
Put everything on a plate
Drizzle with oil and vinegar
Then add salt and pepper
Raw Ham Salad:
Take some salad
Trim the leaves if they are too big
Cut your raw ham into thin strips
Put everything on a plate
Drizzle with oil and vinegar
Then add salt and pepper
I also like to make toast (simple or with two slices of bath, which can be replaced by bagels for example).
Toast:
Take one or two slices of bread
Toast them (in the microwave, in the pan or in the oven)
Spread them with butter (or other)
Add salmon and salad (again, you can put whatever you want)
You can add salt and pepper
And serve in a plate
And of course, what could be better than eating fresh fruit in summer (well ok, apples are in season but they can be found all year round).
