Top 5 of my favorite books

N°1 : Wait for You by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Saga Wait for You tome 1

Summary:

Never take off your bracelet, be punctual, don't attract attention : these are the three precepts that Avery has imposed on herself for her entrance to college. A strategy that the seductive Cameron Hamilton could well thwart with his penetrating gaze and his enticing smile. Patient and stubborn, when Cam has set his sights on someone, he'll stop at nothing, except perhaps Avery's past, which seems to be stubbornly resurfacing...

Together, will they be able to face the memory of that terrible night five years earlier and miles away that changed everything?

My review:

There are no words to describe this book, it is so wonderful and extraordinary. It is a pure marvel. The characters are unique and vivid, and they took me through so many different emotions. In short, I love absolutely everything about this book, the story, the characters, the characters' backgrounds...

Avery is a young girl who has a hard time forgetting her past, which is very understandable when you understand what happened to her. But as time goes by, she comes to accept herself with her wounds. And this is a strong message of the story. As for Cam, he is just perfect, and you realize this even more when you read his point of view in Confidence Game.

I liked the suspense the author puts on their past. They both did things they regret, but in a way, that's what brings them together. And of course, I devoured the pages because I was so immersed in the story. A well-written story that tells a love story mixed with painful pasts.

N°2 : The Deal by Elle Kennedy

Saga Off-Campus tome 1

Summary:

Hannah is a great student and has an incredible gift for singing.

But when it comes to men and seduction, she loses all her nerve. Garrett is the star of the university field hockey team, but his grades aren't up to par and he's in danger of losing his spot on the team. They strike a funny deal. She tutors him and he helps her seduce the soccer team's quarterback.

Will this unusual arrangement change their lives?

My review:

This story is a pure marvel. Sure, you can guess at first that it's a romance but I find that the characters make it more intense and vibrant. And original too. We see passion, incredible feelings and especially humor. We are immediately, from the first pages, transported in the universe of Hannah and Garrett, that we learn little by little. And that makes all the charm of this book.

N°3: The last song of Nicholas Sparks

Summary:

At the age of 17, the life of Veronica Miller, aka "Ronnie," 'is turned upside down by the divorce of her parents and the sudden departure of her father, who leaves New York for North Carolina. She is very angry with him and refuses to see him since the breakup... Until one day, three years later, her mother decides to send her to spend a summer with him, hoping for a reconciliation. Ronnie's father, a former pianist and teacher, lives a peaceful life by the sea, where he devotes himself to making a work of art. Upon his arrival, Ronnie rebels and threatens to leave. But soon, she meets Will, a young man from the village, who will turn her heart upside down. Letting her guard down, will she finally succeed in opening herself to happiness?

My review:

What I love about this book is that the story is powerful. It touched me to the core, leaving an imprint. Maybe because it's a story about second chances. Or just that the story is intense and by the end I was compelled to cry.

What I love about this book is that you get multiple points of view even though it's written in the third person. That's how you really get to know the characters, because you know what they're thinking. And it's because of the characters' thoughts and emotions that this story transcended me.

N° 4: Divergent Volume 1 by Veronica Roth

Summary:

Tris lives in a post-apocalyptic world where society is divided into five factions.

At the age of 16, she must choose which faction she will belong to for the rest of her life. A rare case, her aptitude test is not conclusive.

She is divergent. This secret can save her...or kill her.

My review:

If I love this book, it's primarily because the story transported me. It is original, action-packed, and lively. I imagined it as if I were in it, in Tris' place. And then I love the characters, especially Quatre and Tris, which makes the story even more amazing and wonderful.

What I also love about this book is that I always wonder which faction I belong to and how I would have survived in this world. This story is appealing like that, and addictive to boot. It's a quick and easy read, especially since the suspense keeps us reading more and more.

N°5 : Avalon High by Meg Cabot

Summary:

I, Ellie, think I've fallen in love with Will, the captain of the high school soccer team.

He's a special boy: even though we just met, I feel like I've known him forever. In fact, Will is also convinced that he has seen me before! Who knows, maybe in another life? Anyway, no need to dream about the fairy tale, because he already has a girlfriend, Jennifer (a real princess!)... who seems a little too close to Lance, Will's most faithful friend.

Suddenly I'm a witness to their secrets! What role should I play in this strange trio?

My review:

Even though this book is a bit childish, I really like the originality of this story that speaks on the legend of King Arthur. It is easy and quick to read and sometimes it feels good, just to sit back and read a nice book, without any headaches. Of course, the story has suspense, because even if we know the legend, we do not guess the end easily. And then, the characters are interesting, especially Will and Ellie. And there's a lot of humor.
